Dear Westvale Families of Current In-Person Learners,

We are excited to be welcoming all of our current in-person learners back on Monday, February 8th! These are a few reminders to keep in mind as you get ready to prepare your child(ren) for the return to school:

For those families that borrowed a Chromebook during January: These devices must be returned to your child’s homeroom/school when schools reopen on Monday. These devices are used daily in our classrooms and we require them back to ensure students continue to have a rich learning environment.

Masks must be worn at all times by students inside and outside of the school. Parents and guardians are reminded that they too must wear a mask while on school property when dropping off or picking up their child. We ask that parents remain off the tarmac as much as possible to allow our entry and dismissal line ups the ability to physically distance and not be crowded by parents.

Please have your child arrive to school just prior to the 9 a.m. bell. We do not want students or parents congregating on school property due to COVID safety protocols. We will not be ringing an early entrance bell due to inclement or cold weather, so please ensure that your child is dressed warmly and not arriving too early.

Please ensure that you have completed the COVID Screening Tool on the WRDSB homepage for your child(ren) every morning and adhere to the direction that is given about whether to send your child(ren) to school.

We are asking for your cooperation in minimizing the items that your child(ren) brings to school each day. A backpack, lunch bag and labelled water bottle should come each day, but other personal items should remain at home. If your child brought his/her “indoor shoes” home prior to the December break, those should be sent back to school on Monday and remain at the school. Sadly, due to the restriction of items brought from home for safety reasons, students will not be able to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day the way some of them traditionally do. We are asking for your cooperation in not sending Valentine’s cards or any sort of shared treats to school with your child.
