The 2022-23 school year has flown by and is ending with much success for Westvale students.  We are so grateful that we’ve been able to gather as a school community and go on field trips and hold special events again.

We celebrated the many special events and learning activities that students engaged in over the past ten months by watching a slideshow this morning. The choir performed and the Grade 6 students were also cheered out of the gym.

We are saying goodbye to several staff members and we want to show our gratitude for their work and commitment with our students.  We thank Mr. Fangrad, Mrs. Alecia Jones, and Ms. Morton. These paraprofessionals have worked tirelessly with special needs students and helped so much to support their development.

We are sorry to announce that Ms. Murray, the Early Childhood Educator in K1 and Mrs. Ryczko, the Library Clerk are also leaving Westvale. They have brought such wonder and excitement to our students.

Mr. Bailey has spent several years teaching at Westvale Public School. Mr. Bailey will be teaching Grade 4-8 Visual Arts at Silverheights Public School in the fall. We thank Mr. Bailey for his work with our students over the years and wish him well at his new school.

As we finish the school year, I want to remind you that the first day back to school will be Wednesday, September 6, 2023

Tuesday, September 5, 2023, will be a PD Day for staff. Our Extended Day program will also be closed that day. For more information on the 2023-24 School Year Calendar, please see this announcement.

I understand this is a change from the usual start date and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I want to also let you know that, similar to last year, class assignments will be shared on the first day of school, Wednesday, September 6, 2023. Please check our school website closer to the start of the school year to find out how we will be sharing this information. You can find more information about Elementary Class Assignments here.

Thank you for all your support this school year. Families are an important part of the learning community and we appreciate you. Enjoy the summer months with your children.

Ms. Meredith – Principal
