January has flown by and February is fast approaching. Here are some updates for the Westvale Wolves.

Class Composites

On January 26,  students who had their photos taken on the fall photo days brought home a complimentary class composite of their homeroom class provided by Pegasus. Along with the class, it includes a 4 by 6 of your child.

Winter Walk to School Day

Westvale Public School is participating on February 7 in the Winter Walk to School Day.  The journey outside is a safe and healthy choice for students and parents. Join the walk this February 7 and provide your kids with the jumpstart they need to perform better in the classroom! If there is inclement weather, we will do the Winter Walk on February 14.

Walking outside in cold air can reduce stress, increase serotonin (the happiness hormone), and even though the action may be slower, walking in snow leads to greater heart conditioning and increased endurance over time.

Register your child for a chance to win a $20 Indigo gift card! Walk from home or park your car and walk a few blocks to qualify. Please register at:  bit.ly/2024_WWD_Student

February 14

On February 14, we will have a regular school day and students who would like to are invited to bring Valentine cards to share with their classmates. These cards are optional but please ensure that your child brings a card for all classmates if they would like to participate. No food or candy treats will be distributed and should not be sent to school.

Report Cards

Term 1 Report Cards will be sent home with students on February 16.

Carnaval

Westvale will be having a Carnaval d’hiver for students on Friday, February 16. Our Carnaval will be based on the Carnaval de Québec and students will learn about French culture and traditions through winter outdoor play.

Please ensure that your child is sent to school with snow pants, mitts, hat and warm clothes. An extra pair of socks is also a good idea!

Students will receive a cup of hot chocolate. If there are any dietary restrictions, please let your child’s teacher know by Wednesday, Feb. 7.  We will arrange for students with dietary restrictions to receive warmed apple cider.  We thank the School Council for their support in supplying and distributing the hot chocolate.
