Here is information about upcoming May events at Westvale and some reminders for families.
Waterloo Ringette Association
On April 30 and May 1, the Waterloo Ringette Association will be visiting classes from Grade 1 to 6 at Westvale. The skills the students are being taught during their Physical Education period align with the Active Living and Movement strands in the Physical Education Curriculum.
Chicks
The Westvale chicks are starting to hatch. The ISP class is excited about caring for the newborns when they hatch and all our students will get to meet and name the chicks. Thank you to the School Council for sponsoring this learning opportunity for all our students.

Arrival
It is important for students to arrive on time for the 9 am bell. Learning begins at 9 am and it is important for students to be ready to learn at that time.
If your child is late, parents / caregivers must enter with students arriving late to sign them in at the office. Students cannot sign themselves into school at the young ages we have at Westvale.
Outdoor Equipment – Before and After School
Please remember that the outdoor play equipment is reserved for the Extended Day program students before school from 8:20 am onward. After school, Extended Day begins inside the school. After 3:45 pm, the outdoor play equipment will be used solely by Extended Day participants.
Welcome to Kindergarten Event
Next Wednesday, May 7 Westvale is hosting an evening event to welcome the families and children entering Kindergarten for the first time in September. It begins at 6:30 pm in the Library. We look forward to sharing information about Kindergarten and showing our newest Wolves their learning areas during the hour long event.
Wolf Day
On May 9 we are holding a school spirit day called “Wolf Day”. We encourage students to wear their wolf shirts or wear the school colours of blue and gold for this spirit day.
Grade 6 Information Events
On May 12, students and educators from Centennial Public School will be visiting Westvale. Student representatives from Centennial will talk about learning at Centennial during an Orientation presentation for the Grade 6 students.
On May 22, Grade 6 students and their parents are invited to Centennial Public School. Centennial is hosting their “Feeder Schools Info Night” for caregivers and students from 6:00-7:00 pm at Centennial Public School at 141 Amos Avenue, Waterloo.
Jump Rope for Heart
Information was sent out previously about our Jump Rope for Heart fundraising event for Heart and Stroke. It is happening on May 16. Please check out the link for more information and to make donations on our website at: https://wsv.wrdsb.ca/2025/04/28/jump-rope-for-heart-may-16-2025/
Junior Track and Field Day
On Tuesday, May 20 students in Grades 4 to 6 will participate in our Westvale Track and Field meet. The rain date is Friday, May 23. Junior students will be learning about the track and field events during their Physical Education classes leading up to our track meet. Water bottles and sunscreen should be sent to school for the track and field meet.
EQAO Testing
Grade 6 students will be writing the EQAO test from May 26 to May 29. More details will be shared with the Grade 6 parents in the upcoming weeks.
Grade 3 students will engage in the EQAO testing from June 2 to June 5. More details will also be shared with the Grade 3 parents in the upcoming weeks.
PD Day
May 30 is a Professional Development Day and there is no school for students on that day. More details will be shared about what the educators are learning that day as the date approaches.
