This is the last week of the 2024-25 school year. It has been a successful year for so many of our Westvale Wolves. Today your child is bringing home their Term 2 Report Card. We hope you will reflect with your child on their successes and help them plan their next steps for the 2025-26 school year.

We would like to thank you for your generosity over this school year. We raised $1785 for Heart and Stroke Research during Jump Rope for Heart in May and $502.56 for Kidsability during our Super Power Celebration.

We would also like to thank the many parent and community volunteers who give so much of their time and energy to helping out at Westvale. Pizza Day, Strong Start and the School Council events would not be possible without these dedicated volunteers.

Today we are holding the Grade 6 Celebration. As our Grade 6 Wolves move on to their Grade 7 schools, we wish them much success and happiness. Their parents will attest that they are growing up so quickly.

On Thursday, we are celebrating the many special activities and events that all of our students engaged in over the past ten months by holding an assembly for students and watching a slideshow as a school. The Grade 6 students will also be cheered out of the gym by the student body as they move on to their new schools in September.

As we finish the school year, I want to remind you that the first day back to school will be Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Tuesday, September 2, 2025, will be a PD Day for staff. For more information on the 2025-26 School Year Calendar and PD Days, please see the board website here.

Access to School-Day will resume for parents and caregivers on September 2, 2025. You can login and view your child’s information anytime on Tuesday September 2, if you have a School-day account linked to your child.

We are saying goodbye to several staff members and we want to show our gratitude for their tireless work and commitment to our students over multiple years.

We are thankful that Ms. Wood took over as Library Clerk and second Secretary for most of this school year. She supported students, looked after the Westvale Chicks and made the Library such a welcoming place to be.

We would like to thank Mrs. Nowak for her dedication to the ACE students at Westvale this past year. She is moving to Smithson Public School where she will continue to support exceptional students.

Mrs. Aubin is also moving to another school. Her care and support of our complex students will be missed. We were so lucky to have her with us over the past school year and know she’ll be an amazing educational assistant at the new WRDSB school Willow River Public School..

Madame Ngaha Yamje was the French teacher for the 5/6B French Immersion class this year. Her French expertise and consistent presence in the French classroom helped so many of her students improve their language skills and we thank her.

Mrs. Lee taught Grade 1 this past year and taught Kindergarten for the previous two years at Westvale. She will be moving on to a Kindergarten position at Franklin Public School next year. We are thankful that many of our students started their educational journey with Mrs. Lee as their teacher.

Mrs. Canada has been our treasured night custodian for the past ten years. She works tirelessing cleaning the Kindergarten and Junior classrooms as well as the office and gym areas. We appreciate all the extra things she does to make our school sparkle and wish her much happiness in her retirement years.

Mrs. Quinton has taught at Westvale since 2012. Along with teaching Language, Mathematics, and Science to Grades 2 and 3 French Immersion, Helen helped students understand their importance in the world and challenged them to help care for our planet. She will be missed by everyone in the Westvale community as she retires.

Mrs. Reaume has enjoyed a 35 year career with the WRDSB. At Westvale she taught every grade from K to 6, and then moved into Special Education and ACE Planning time. She embraced connecting with our school’s most complex learners. We wish Kathy all the best as she embarks on her next chapter of retirement.

After 31 years of teaching, I will also be retiring at the end of June. It’s been my honour to work with you and your children over the past three years. I was lucky to work with students and teachers from JK to 12 during my career at different schools and Learning Support Services. It was my privilege to finish as a Westvale Wolf. I will miss all the amazing students and the vibrant community of Westvale.

Information about the administrator who will be leading Westvale next year will be shared when it is available.

I wish you and your family a wonderful summer and all the best in the years to come.

Ms. Meredith
