The Science Fair and Invention Convention is fast approaching. It will be part of Earth Week at Westvale. The outline of Wednesday, April 19 below is to help explain how the day of the Science Fair will proceed.

Morning of the Science Fair

8:45 am – Students bring items into the gym.  Parents may assist with bringing in the display boards and items before school. Please go to the gym door.

There will be a map created by organizers to show students where their projects will be displayed. The map will be posted on the bulletin board outside the gym.

Students may begin setting up their projects when they come into the gym. We ask parents not to do the setup.

Students will need to report to their homeroom classes for attendance at 9 am.

There will be more time in the first period (9-9:30 am) for students to finish setting up their projects after O’ Canada is finished.

Classes will start to visit the Science Fair at 10:00 am. Classes will be given a scheduled time to visit the fair. Participating Science Fair students will be in the gym presenting their projects when the classes visit.

Evening of the Science Fair

6:30 pm Families and caregivers are invited to the school to view the Science Fair. Please enter at the side entrance by the gym. Doors will open at 6:20 pm.

Projects will be exhibited from 6:30 until 7:30 pm.

The Science Fair Judges will begin asking questions to students about their projects at 6:30 pm. It is an opportunity for the children to discuss the creation of their projects and the fun they experienced in the process. It is not a competition.

7:30 pm Students will be asked to take down their projects. They will take display boards and materials back home. We need the gym to be completely empty for the next morning’s rental.

Thank you for supporting your children as they have prepared their projects. Judges will be asking questions to the students about the projects. It would be helpful for students to practise talking about their projects and what they learned over the next few days to prepare for the event.

We look forward to seeing families at the Science Fair.
